Raymond (Dick) George Williment Sr.

Sept. 25, 1931 - June 23, 2003

Raymond (Dick) George Williment, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on June 23 at the age of 71. Leaving to mourn his passing is his loving wife of 49 years, Yvonne.

He is also survived by his two daughters: Denise (Garry) of Calgary, Shaunene (Gary) of Vernon; one son: Ray Jr. (Carol) of Vernon, six grandchildren: Colin, Zachary, Brett, Lisa, Jason and Joshua, three brothers & two sisters: Edgar, Walter, Elmer, Grace and Olive, all of Manitoba; special nephews: Don (Bev) Williment and family, Bob (Linda) Dedemus and family, all of Vernon; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

Raymond was born Sept. 25, 1931 in Miami, Manitoba.

In 1952 he decided to seek his fortune in the interior of B.C. He married Yvonne in 1953 and they eventually settled with their family in Vernon.

He worked for many years in the logging industry, retiring in 1992 at the age of 60.

He had been actively involved in Vernon Minor Hockey culminating in his ownership of the Vernon Lakers Junior 'A' Team in the 1982-83 season.

Raymond and Yvonne spent many happy years camping and fishing at many local lakes (especially White Lake). They also loved to travel to the mountain parks of B.C. and Alberta. Raymond especially enjoyed working on his many projects he had going at any one time around their home in Coldstream.

His family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderfully caring nurses of 3W at VJH and his community care aides: Kim, Laurie, Marinella ('Mama Mia') and nurse: Jeannie and thanks to Dr. Philp. Special thanks to their exceptional neighbors and friends: Ann and Al Tutte.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Raymond's life will be held on Saturday, June 28 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1406 - 32 Ave. with Rev. Wes De Zeeuw officiating. Interment in the Coldstream Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, 2101 - 32 St., Vernon V1T 5Z2 in Raymond's memory.

Pleasant Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
