Jim Moro

It is with much sadness and regret that we announce the passing of our dear brother Jim on July 1, 2003, in Vernon, B.C. , after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born in Fort William on March 21, 1934 to Giovanni and Giovanna Moro.

A natural athlete, he excelled in hockey and played for the Fort William Hurricanes and for Terrace Bay in the North Shore League before moving west in 1957.During his hockey career he played in many cities including Calgary, Spokane and Victoria before settling in Vernon where where he became one of the more talented members of the Senior 'A' Vernon Canadians. He also coached the Vernon Blades for the 1963-64 season.

In Vernon he took a position with the City of Vernon until his retirement in 1995. Jim's golfing skills were greatly admired at the Spallumcheen Golf Club. His 12 handicap was the envy of his hockey-playing buddies. He also enjoyed his baseball days during the early sixties.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Nancy, his brother Emilio of Edmonton, Alta. , his sisters Mary Adduono and Anita Hvezda and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son Jamie, his parents, brothers Gildo, Varisto and Lino Moro, sister Ida DePiero also brothers Emilio and Antonio in infancy.

Graveside services were held on July 4th @ Pleasant Valley Cemetery and a celebration of his life on July 5th at the ANA Vets Hall in Vernon.

Jim's sense of humor, quick-wittedness and one-liners will be sorely missed by all his friends and relatives. 'Shed No Tears---A Smile will Be Sufficient'"
