Gordon Marshall Ellinson

January 12, 1934 – August 20, 2023

In Loving Memory ~

Survived by wife, Doreen; children Beverly (Bill) Roberts, Linda (Bill Franssen) Ellinson, Dennis (Debra) Ellinson, Mark Ellinson, Sandra Van de Mortel; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Winnifred Ellinson, brother, Harold Ellinson, and sister, Mary Ellinson.

Born in Ottawa, Gord moved back to Vancouver with his parents, where he finished high school and met the love of his life, Doreen.

Gord and Doreen married on March 21, 1953, and settled down to start their family. In 1967, Gord transferred with his job at BC Hydro to Vernon, BC; a move he said he wished he would have done sooner.

Gord retired from BC Hydro in 1997 and settled into retired life. A natural athlete all his life, he was involved in gymnastics, slow pitch, hockey and bowling to name a few. When he wasn’t playing hockey, he was an avid fan of the Vernon (Lakers) Vipers.

He spent 25 years volunteering for the Pee Wee hockey tournaments and as a Goal Judge for the Vipers. If there was anything you wanted to know about the Vipers, Gordon knew it.

Gord was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a Life Member of the Oddfellows. In both organizations, he worked his way through all chairs, up to and including, President.

Gord was happiest when helping others and was always the first to lend a hand.

Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 6 at 1 p.m. at Cypress Funeral and Cremation Services, 4417 – 29 Street, Vernon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Hospice House or the Cancer Society.
